Title: Silo – Sunrise March 2017 I love to paint outdoors when the weather lets me. I live in Kansas so the weather and wind is well known for being very harsh in every season. Sometimes I paint what it feels like outside to me rather than what a scene may actually look like. 👇🏻 Example below.
4×4″ oil on canvas
This year Im focusing on painting the landscape or things found around home or in nature exclusively through plein air or my photography. I hope you will follow along or join me on this year long journey. I am a daily painter and crave new challenges to incorporate into my sessions as each daily painting is a new exercise in learning.
Most of us love vintage/antique items and I’m blessed to have a steady abundance in those things. I’m a person of simple means and most of the things I have accumulated were given to me or handed down through the generations from my family or friends and are in one way or another meaningful to me. The things I have are not particularly valuable monetarily but to me they hold memories and nostalgia which make them symbols usually about ; faith, love, a life event, struggle or hardship, birth or even death . My family as well as many of your families immigrated to this country. Mine from Scotland in the 1800’s. Many of my ancestors died during wartime. It is a miracle I am even here at all so I try to make the best of what I have and do what I can do to connect with people and share good thoughts and art. 🌿
Anyway, besides all of that..this is a discipline challenge for me through painting and in renewing my appreciation for the things I have. Also for the record , I love the people in my life also – I’m just a terrible portrait painter. 😁 We cant have it all can we?!
I hope you come back and check my progress and/or share your thoughts.
